Painting “Open My Eyes in Wonder” by Anne Neilson

The Israelite exodus began as a journey to the Promised Land. By this point in the book of Numbers their journey toward freedom has become its opposite: a running away from responsibility.

In this week’s portion, a curious pair of characters, a pagan prophet and a talking donkey, bring a corrective of hope to our narrative. Even with all of our weaknesses and misdirected inclinations it is possible to have our eyes opened to the beauty of holiness and community. Join us here at 7:00 p.m. (PDT) Thursday July 1 as we explore to have one’s eyes opened.
