PARSHAT VAYERA 5782 HOW SHALL WE GREET THE VISITORS IN OUR LIVES?

Greeting visitors openly and graciously expands our world and our possibilities. View the study sheet here. Watch the recording here.

As this week’s Torah portion teaches us, visitors can enter our lives in all sorts of forms: angels, human beings, a voice, wrapped in noble raiment, clothed in the humblest of garments. Sometimes they pass by off in the distance, wondering if we’ll rush out to meet them. Other times they’ll march right up to our faces, daring us to turn away. And sometimes they’ll emerge from within us, memories that we thought we had buried long ago.

Covid tempered our enthusiasm for close encounters. We suffered a different infection as a result. An adjustment to distance and isolation. The time is long past to extend ourselves openly and graciously to others. Our emotional health requires it. And our communal well-being grows ever weaker without it. We won’t lack for opportunities. There is a visitor waiting for you to greet them. Some near; some far; and some deep within.

Join us here at 7:00 p.m. (PDT) Thursday October 21 as we explore: how shall we greet the visitors in our lives?
