thursday torah study
Weekly, 7-8 pm on zoom and on first Thursdays in person at the Eastside Jewish Commons (2420 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland, OR)
Participation in Torah study is available via zoom and streaming live and recorded on our private Facebook group. A recording of the study session will be available on the Shulchanpdx YouTube channel beginning Friday at noon.
To receive the zoom link or to be added to the facebook group, email Rabbi at rabbi@shulchan.org.
Torah Study begins with a reading of an English translation of the portion, with participants invited to read a few verses. After the translation has been read, Rabbi shares his focused commentary, which consists of material on the study sheet (typical including both traditional Jewish materials and contemporary materials from poetry, psychology, literature, and more) and an examination of the art piece. After that we open it up for everyone to have an opportunity to share their thoughts, comments if they want.
